Right now, the Trump administration’s new guidance is allowing states to sell health insurance plans that do not fully protect people with pre-existing conditions. And the administration is backing a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen Republican-led states that aims to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in its entirety, removing all protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

This undermining of the ACA threatens the health coverage of millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions – but Congressional Democrats are fighting back to make sure these people are protected.

The Democrat-controlled House passed the Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act of 2019, a bill that nullifies the Trump administration’s latest guidance and preserves the pre-existing conditions coverage of the ACA regardless of the outcome of the Republican-led lawsuit. But the bill is currently stalled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s continued obstruction of House-passed legislation.

The GOP will stop at nothing in their attacks on affordable health coverage – but we aren’t going to let millions of Americans go without health care. We need 100,000 supporters to add their names to speak out and demand Congress take action to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions.
