Three years ago, Betsy DeVos was confirmed as Donald Trump’s education secretary – and in that time, she has pursued a ruthless agenda that’s destructive to our public schools, students and teachers.

Betsy DeVos proved exactly the kind of leader she’d be back in 2017 when her first budget proposed cutting $9.2 billion – or 13.6% – of the education department’s budget. She also tried to redirect $1 billion to promote private and charter schools while attempting to cut after-school programs for low-income students and funding for mental health services.

While putting students and our public education system on the backburner, Betsy DeVos has constantly sided with wealthy interests and corporations. She spent millions on charter schools that closed or never opened, and she’s made it easier for shady, for-profit colleges to get away with defrauding student borrowers.
