Require universal background checks for all gun purchases

Nearly a quarter of all gun sales in the last two years didn’t involve a background check. While licensed dealers are obligated to carry out background checks, private sellers—whether they’re operating online, at gun shows or elsewhere—have no such mandate. That means it’s far too easy for firearms to fall into the hands of dangerous people, like domestic abusers, convicted felons, or the mentally ill.

That’s an unacceptable loophole, and too many tragedies happen every year as a result of it. It’s just common sense: Add your name to support universal background checks for all gun purchases.
