Tell Betsy DeVos: Stand up for survivors of sexual assault

It’s abhorrent: Acting head of the Department of Education’s Civil Rights office Candice Jackson told The New York Times that “[sexual assault] accusations – 90 percent of them – fall into the category of ‘we were both drunk,’ ‘we broke up, and six months later I found myself under a Title IX investigation because she just decided that our last sleeping together was not quite right.’”

Jackson’s remarks were astonishingly ignorant and dangerous – and it’s absolutely unacceptable for the person responsible for investigating campus sexual assault to suggest that the vast majority of survivors are either lying or at fault themselves.

Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Claire McCaskill and Richard Blumenthal are fighting back and demanding that Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos fire Jackson and protect survivors of campus sexual assault. Add your name now to tell Betsy DeVos and the Department of Education: Fire Candice Jackson!
