As the Senate considers sweeping changes to the nation’s health care laws, nearly 700 rural hospitals across the country are already teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. This is a critical moment, as the wrong approach – like slashing hundreds of billions of dollars from the Medicaid program these hospitals depend on – could very well push them over the edge.
This would spell disaster for these communities. Such closures would drastically diminish access to care in these communities and could even cost lives. And since these hospitals are often rural counties’ largest employers, local economies would be at risk of cratering as well – hundreds of jobs would likely be eliminated whenever a hospital closes its doors.
Millions of Americans depend on rural health care providers for lifesaving services, and we cannot let them suffer. Add your name right now to tell the Senate: Protect rural communities’ health care!
