Take Action: Help Make Cosmetics Safer
The Issue
From blushes and bronzers to body washes and shampoos, what chemicals are you putting on your skin? The truth is, cosmetics companies can put just about anything in their products – even chemicals associated with cancer and endocrine disruption.
The Solution
Two U.S. Senators, Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), aim to update regulations with their proposed Personal Care Products Safety Act. The bipartisan bill would give the federal Food and Drug Administration the power to review risky ingredients BEFORE products hit the market. Under the bill’s terms, the FDA would also be able to monitor adverse reactions (companies would be required to report them) and issue recalls for products that may cause serious harm.

Petition text to be delivered to members of Congress:
It’s simply outrageous that cosmetics companies can put just about any chemical in personal care products, no matter how dangerous it is. While no bill is perfect, the Personal Care Products Safety Act will provide the Food and Drug Administration many of the tools the agency needs to protect consumers from dangerous chemicals in everyday products. Please stand up for the health of your constituents and support the Personal Care Products Safety Act today!
